IS THIS TOUR FOR YOU? This tour is design to any passionate mountain biker that can handle four days, 3 to 4 hours rides including some moderate to hard climbs, some technical sessions and a few nice downhills. The tour also includes 2 to 3 days of stand up paddle boarding (SUP) which not required previous experience but at least, basic swimming skills. Life jacket is provided. ITINERARY Day 1-Welcome to Puerto Rico. Puerto Rico Mountain Bike and Adventure will provide the transfer from Luis Muñoz Marin International Airport in San Juan (LMA) to Guánica, PR. Puerto Rico Mountain Bike and Adventure will be leaving the airport at 4:00 PM sharp. There is a stop for dinner in our way. Once we get to our final destination we recomend to unpack, set-up your bikes and rest. We start our first ride at 7:30 AM after a quick meeting in the morning.
Day 2 –Dry Forest and Gilligan’s Island We start our day with a quick meeting and a hearty breakfast, then we will head to Bosque Seco (Dry Forest) a (Natural Reserve) that provides good climbing, single tracks, fun downhills and the Fuerte Capron’s spectacular views of the Caribbean Sea and the mountains ridge. After our ride, we go back to our hotel to enjoy a good beachfront lunch before our stand-up paddle board session towards Guilligan’s Island, where we will recharge batteries in a nice kay with crystal-clear waters, beautiful mangroves and cold beers. Then, we will go back to the hotel to fresh-out for our first group dinner.
Day 3-Pardas, Jungla and Parguera. (More ride, More paddle More beer) This morning we head off to Pardas and Jungla. Here, after a short climbing we will hit a nice decent over a rocky terrain that take us to a beautiful coast line, Jungla Beach. Don’t get excited, we just started, the beach comes after. Then we will connect with Pardas, a land extension of approximately 1,000 acres shaped by single tracks, good climbing, decent sessions and spectacular views of the Caribbean Sea. After Pardas, we will head back to Jungla to our final climb before we head to La Parguera, the most famous and beautiful fishing village along the entire south coast line. We will enjoy a delicious lunch in La Parguera previous to our paddle board session. If you’re not for the paddle session, don’t worry, you can relax in our boat following the group and enjoying the cold beers.
Day 4 and 5-Cabo Rojo (Repeat, Repeat, Repeat) Finally, we arrive to Cabo Rojo, the MTB Mecca in Puerto Rico. We will enjoy the next two days in this exiting area which offers good trails for all skill levels. Here we will hit some challenging but not to-long climbs, super fun single tracks, and a few nice descents. Our ride will go along the coast several times and you will be amazed. In addition to mountain biking, Cabo Rojo. Is one the most-visited locations in the Island for its beautiful beaches, layback atmosphere and the “Poblado de Boquerón”, a famous beach village with restaurants, bars and a nice ambient. After our ride and lunch. We will have a relaxing afternoon, in one of the most beautiful beaches in Puerto Rico, or stay at El Poblado for a relaxing afternoon in a beachfront location and cold beers, whatever you prefer.
Day 5. We continue our adventure at the center of Cabo Rojo. Today after our ride, we will drive to the Town of San Sebastian, the island where we will visit Gozalandia or Las Cataratas, Spanish for waterfalls. This is a beautiful natural wonder that forms a beautiful natural swimming pool with approximately 20 foot deep of refreshing water. After this therapy, we will go back to San Juan, the Capital City, to enjoy our last dinner together at the Old San Juan colonial city.
Day 6 Adiós Amigos! Today we depart for the airport after breakfast. We coordinate the hotel check out based on the departure time of the majority of the group. If your flight is leaving late and you don’t want to wait in the airport, you can easily make arrangement to get a taxi. We hope to see you soon!
WEATHER We are located in the Caribbean with an average temperatures year-round of 80 oF (27 oC) but, the summer months feels hotter than that. We are exactly located it the southwest area of the Island with mostly dry days and approximately 10 hrs. of sun. It is highly recommended long sleeves jerseys, sun block and at least 100 oz hydration system. Don’t worry for the electrolytes supplements, we provide them.
SAFETY Our rides are generally considered safe but could be not design for beginners. It is important that you are sure that you have the experience to handle technical sessions, loose rocks downhills and 3 to 4 hours ride at a moderate pace. Always is important that you ride within your limits having your safety and the safety of your riding partners as your first priority. All participants must bring their bikes in good working conditions. You must be well hydrated and rested. Alcohol is not permitted while riding. Our guides have basic first-aid training but in the event of a serious injury, professional medical services will be requested at the cost of the participant. Personal travel insurance is mandatory.
The standup paddle sessions will require the use of a life jacket all the times for safety purposes. We provide a support boat following the group. The selected courses are within protected waters and weather conditions are monitored all the time.
LODGING We will staying four nights on a four stars beachfront resort at Guánica Town with a view to the Caribbean Sea where you will enjoying the sunset and cool down of the ride of the day. The last night we will be staying at San Juan close to the airport.
PAYMENT To reserve your package please complete the online registration form and a deposit of $500.00 is required. 90 days before the tour the trip balance will be collected.
